Farm-to-Table Cooking

Using ingredients at least partially sourced at the EquiCenter Farm, various groups get together to cook, socialize, and enjoy a meal of what they made together. Like many of our programs, it has therapeutic benefit without seeming like traditional therapy at all.

Cooking with Heroes

Our farm-to-table program for veterans, Cooking with Heroes is taught by veteran Ellen Adams, chef and former contestant on the Food Network cooking show "Chopped!" Participants learn how to prepare a nutritionally complete, cost-efficient, and delicious meal using fresh produce, partially sourced from the EquiCenter Farm.

Group Cooking

We welcome groups and individuals to this program, which allows participants to engage with one another socially while learning how to prepare and present food and share a meal together. Private two- to three-hour cooking classes can be scheduled midday throughout the week for groups. Contact Sara McLaughlin, at smclaughlin@equicenterny.org for pricing and availability details.

Social Squad Cooking

By cooking alongside trained chefs, students will work on social interaction, handling differences, friendships, and communication while building kitchen skills and making and sharing a meal together. In addition, participants will learn while following recipes, understand how to safely use kitchen appliances, explore new ingredients, and develop measuring skills and new tastes.
